Question Original W-25 hood question

Hi Guys,
I recently got my hands on an original OAI w-25 hood in good shape. The fiberglass is in great shape, but it is separating from the steel frame.
How can I remove the frame from the glass without destroying either one?

Good question. I know people have done it but I would like to know as well on how to do this.

I tried to get some pics but it is hard to show it in pictures. The glue or bonding agent between the fiberglass and steel seams to be giving out and the steel is loose on the fiberglass. I would like to separate it completely to make sure it has all new bonding to the fiberglass. Also what do you think this is worth? is original worth more or less than a Thornton?

If moderate force will not cause further separation, let it be.

Use bonding agent on the loose areas.

A Corvette body expert did this on mine 10 years ago and there was no further separation.

One advantage of this method is that you are sure the parts alignment is perfect (the factory supplier did this in a jig).

Definitely try and repair just the loose areas and leave the steel attached when the factory put it. I have a hood that had the steel replaced, and the alignment was atrocious - it took weeks of work to get everything to line up properly with the rest of the car when it should have been a straight swap out. It's still, and never will be, as good as I would like.

I was thinking if a guy would drill holes in all 4 corners and use pins for alignment, that might work. I am worried if I don't replace all the adhesive it will pull apart latter.
Still deciding and talking with local body guys.

Thats actually a very good idea, similar to those who remove and replace doors and drill through the hinges for later alignment. As long as the two pieces get back to where they started in relationship to each other, you’ll be fine.
