Idk what to tell you. My 72 with a th 400 has a kickdown switch. I am willing to bet your th 400 has an electrical connection on the left side that is waiting for a kickdown switch to be connected to.

The TH350 kickdown cable attaches to the gas pedal, not the carubretor.

It's the lower cable in this picture.

The first question is, what are you putting it into? As noted, the 69-72 Cutlii with TH350 ran the kickdown cable to the accelerator pedal through the firewall. Other years and models ran it to the carb. If you need to run it to the carb, you either need a different carb with the provision for the kickdown cable or you need to fabricate an add-on throttle arm that does that.

Just an FYI, the cable in that photo is NOT connected to the accelerator using factory parts. Here is what the factory connection looks like, with the spring clip that can be adjusted.

Good evening lady’s and gents. Just like to say thank you all for the response. I think I’ve found something #17058553 don’t know what it came off, but it does have that extra connection for the kick down cable, hopefully it will work. Your thoughts please. I’ll upload pictures as soon as I get a little bit smarter.
Thank Y’All so much.

17058553 was used on the 1978 Olds 350 and 403 with Calif. emissions.

So is it going to be a problem using this carb on the 1971 350? or is there something to be done in the rebuilding process to make it more adaptable?

That depends on your level of comfort digging into the carburetor & making adjustments for performance, fine-tuning, fuel efficiency, etc.
Personally, I'd look for and install either a 1971 Oldsmobile 350 sbo Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl carburetor such as the 71 4bbl for the 350 sbo (7041250) or the 71 4bbl for the 455 bbo Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl carburetor (7041251).

Can you post a picture of the linkage of your currently installed carb? Does your gas pedal have the provision for a kickdown cable?
