1970-72 W30 W25 OAI assembly question

Good day, regarding Olds OAI assembly, saw this one on eBay listed as original, and had a question. I’ve seen where the letters “Oldsmobile” are not silver, and those that are silver - which was from the factory/original? Thank you

The ebay OAI air cleaner has an incorrect base. The snorkle is wrong.

Thanks guys, I have one - not interested in purchasing, was utilizing this one as a reference - so are the letters “Oldsmobile” black from the factory or silver - it sounds like they were black.

But they do look pretty cool in silver.

The production air cleaner adapters were all black. You will see period photos from magazines and even Olds PR photos that show them painted, but that was not the case for production parts.

Here’s (last) one on eBay from Thornton, not sure if it’s new old stock but seems to be GM item. Also seems to answer my question, other thoughts about how “Oldsmobile” lettering looks in silver versus black?

That is a repop. They are licensed by GM so they put it on the box. Makes it look like a GM part but it is not

The key to knowing it's a repop is "GM Restoration Parts". Nothing with that logo will be NOS, although in *some* cases, they may actually have the original mold/die/tooling to do the repop's. As you stated, they are officially licensed by GM, and the parts are published in the GM Restoration Parts catalog.
