Non-OAI base with OAI upper assembly
I am changing out my 1970 flat hood on my base 442 with a OAI hood and was wondering if the original lower non-OAI air cleaner base will work with a the new OAI upper assembly. I am going with reproductions and Parts Place sells the assemblies with or without the base. I could go with the entire assembly and then just sell the entire original non-OAI assembly that came with the car. Looking at the pics online the bases look very similar. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Rick. I saw your post and wasn't sure if that base came with what appears to be an original W-25 setup or you were able to complete your setup with a W-25 top and a non-W-25 base. To further confuse me, there was some discussion on yours being the wrong base. I plan on referencing your post when this car goes back together but for now, I am still asking if my base will work with the new upper OAI assembly. The good news is that I live near the parts place so my base is coming with me when I buy the assembly. I like trying to have the answer before I go there as a sanity check to what I am being told. Also, I should have started my string with the same disclaimer you used in yours.

I think I found my answer in a different thread. Thanks, kcd

You should be good to go.
The base I had was from a big size Olds. It worked but wasn't correct.I bought a repo base from a forum member and have everything installed correctly now. I should have taken some pics today when I was at the shop.
