68 Olds 442 Paint Code

I just came across a 68 442 (4487) with a paint code on the cowl tag of 6. Has anyone ever seen a numeric paint code on a 68 model?

Submit a pic of the cowl tag.
Is that it, just a single paint code digit? Is there a - or dash by the 6? Could be a G as the last poster says?

What's the number after the 87 in the VIN?

This car is actually on EBAY for sale. I do not believe it's a Lansing car. Have a look at the tag and see what you think. It looks like a very nice willow gold car, but it also has a parchment vinyl top.

I saw the car on ebay, that is for the vinyl top, which is Parchment. For some unknown reason, it lacks a paint code. It is a Fremont built car, so maybe the cowl tags were done differently?

The color looks like paint code X Buckskin. If so it was a Tornado only color so maybe special ordered and for some reason no paint code on tag?

I have a Fremont Z code car. The trim tag reads K6. Ocean turquoise with parchment top and pearl gut, now go fast red black black.
B964 it very well may be Buckskin. Its not willow.

I believe that you are right. I checked a non factory book at first, which did not have buckskin listed, but the 442 & W machines resto guide did have it. My '68 PPG paint card also has it. I have never seen it on a car before. It sold cheap in my opinion.

Yes the tags were slightly different on Fremont cars...at least the A bodies. It will generally have the 344 for a 442 same as the VIN.
My tag has 344878 on it. "BF" is the giveaway.
