'70 Cutlass-Tips for rear shock removal.
Hello all,
Trying to replace the rear shock abosrbors on my '70 cutlass. I cannot get the upper nuts off on the right rear shock. I’ve loosened the two bolts about half way and the nuts on both bolts are now stuck and I can't get them off. The access to the upper nuts is very limited and I can’t seem to get a wrench to hold the nut so that I can remove the bolt the rest of the way. Can't get good enough access to hold a wrench in place on the upper nut. When I put a lot of pressure on the wrench on the bolt, the wrench on the upper nut just pops off.
I've soaked them with penatrating oil.
Any tips would be appreciated.
thanks,
Pat

Thanks for the reply.
I can get a box wrench on the nuts but I can't get my hand up there to hold it with any force while I turn the bolt with the other hand at the same time.
The box wrench on tops turns with the nut and then pops off.
I don't think there would be room to cut the bolts.

I tried to get a small vice grip on the nut but there was not enough room and the angle was not good. Maybe I can hold the box wrench with the vice grips.....thanks, that is a good idea.
