Looking to replace the fuel lines on my 65 Cutlass. Can I use compression type fittings on fuel lines along the frame?

 

I wouldn't. I'd only use either one piece or flares with correct flared unions to make the connections.

Compression fittings will work, BUT Flare nuts and unions are the best way IMO...

 

ASSUMING this is a carb system with a mechanical pump on the engine, the line from the tank to the pump is a suction line. This same line already uses a rubber hose and clamps to connect to the tank and the pump. A compression fitting is overkill. Your call on the esthetics of it. If you have a return line, it is marginally under pressure - less than 5 psi due to the restrictor in the fuel pump outlet that keeps this return pressure low. Again, this line uses rubber and hose clamps from the factory to connect to the pump and the thank. This is not a safety issue.
