Looking for a 400 olds engine

my serial number is 3448791124854 and I would like to put the right motor in it.
What do I need to find as far as engine codes and did other cars use the same motor as my 442, also what’s the model number of this car, is it a w30 31 32 or none of them. I’ve not found much on it
Thanks Bruce

Hello Bruce, that vin says Oldsmobile 442 2 door holiday coupe (hardtop), 1969, St Terese Canada plant, body serial 124854, if I'm correct on my decoding. This is good, because GM of Canada may have documentation of the car. It requires a G block Olds 400 engine with C heads. If you can post a picture of your cowl tag, it will help us further. Chances are, the car is an automatic, non W, 442.

Have a complete(carb to pan) 69 400 manual trans motor in Massachusetts if you can figure out how to get it to you

Bruce,
The tag says it had an M21 4-spd trans, and built in the 4th week of December ('68 for the '69 model year). Nice! almost exactly one year younger than mine :-) Yours will turn 50 this year :-) As Koda says, GM of Canada can likely find records on your car. I understand it's about US$70 for them to dig it up and mail it to you. Other folks here will have more accurate info in regard to the records. Post up some pics! We love pics! We would also like to know your plans for the restoration/mod/whatever you decide. LOTS of great info provided by mega-friendly Olds compatriots can be had on this site.

Welcome, and Good Luck!
Rich
