B -J Scottsdale
I was pretty amused watching the Olds commentary at the BJ auction last night. When the black with blue interior W30 was on the block, one if the announcers told everyone watching that they could learn "everything they wanted to know about 442's by going to 442.com. Really? Good to see they keep up to date on what is available for information.

The car "only" brought $50k No build sheet of course but it supposedly had a paper trail back to new including the "original" window sticker & dealer invoice, etc. Their write up said there were only 262 W30 post coupes built with a 4spd, 262 was the total of W30 post coupes built, 142 with 4spds. The car just didn't look good to me. The black with white stripes & blue interior just looked odd. Still not a good price for such a rare car!! There was another orange/blk stripe 4spd holiday W30 that brought $50.5k. It looked to be a very correct car but it had no paperwork so they listed it as an undocumented car. But '69 Camaro resto-mods & clones were bringing well over $100k???

yeah seems us old school keep it original to the core purists are slowly fading into the sunset and these millenials want a cool car that goes AND stops so we get the resto mods.but most of these resto mods probably start off as a car lacking the original drivetrain and maybe lots more so they decide well it's not gonna be original anyway so might as well make it what i want.i don't see someone dropping 50k on one of those 442's just to resto mod it.

The car had 2 broadcast cards, was one of the most original documented cars that I have owned.I purchased that car back in 90 and did a complete body off rotisserie restoration on it and sold it then. Was wondering when it would show up again. In my opinion the color combo was outstanding. Im thiking the car was used as a driver and was somewhat deteriorated and that is why the low price, someone got a real deal. Greg
Was the owner you sold it - the individual who took it to Barrett Jackson last week ?
Thanks

All I know is it went to Colorado and California and lost track of it. Then it showed up at Barrett Jackson. Arent you the guy that said there was never a black 442 W30 with blue interior made? Greg

I never said that. I've always known that a blue interior could be had with code 19 exterior color. Im also aware that the light blue stripe was also a availability on a code 19 car. IN fact i experimented with a photo shop of one of my W31's that was altered to the Olds blue stripe that was available. Some how it didnt look appealing with the light azure blue stripe. If the stripe was more of a electric blue it would have looked ok. This was a experiment at the time lol

I did say this "that before this Barrett Jackson car appeared. No other black with blue car has ever been seen before." either on line since I've been on the internet, or any all Olds show for that matter etc. I'll stand by those comments. That changed last Thursday when Karl Sup took this picture.
