A letter from the previous owner stating it was a W-30 does not mean anything to any collector. There are forgeries out there and anyone can say whatever they want. To my knowledge the only way you can ultimately prove it's a W-30 is the built sheet. Now, you can be very very certain if you have all the right numbers, labeling on the engine/intake, headers etc but just having red wheel wells the decals and a letter saying it won't cut the mustard. I have a 1970 and no build sheet but can be 90% certain with a combo of lots of different things from the VIN showing built in LAN Mich (W-30s were only built there but non W-30s were too) and the top of the engine saying Oldsmobile W-455 and the right casting numbers. Ultimately though I can't "prove" it but most who know enough would look at everything original to one on this and say yeah, I believe you. Some numbers and stampings on the 71 were different though. 70 had some unique ones I amore familiar with. Hope that helps!

if this is the same car belonging to the guy that bought your Aegean Aqua 442 year or two ago then it is real.

This is already double and triple posted.
71 Bittersweet W30
The car was a garage find and offered at a lower price. It also doesn't have the original engine, but the seller claims the 455 it has has been rebuilt to W30 specs. The car looks really good and I'm sure it was born a W30, but the provenance stops at the engine.
