Wire wheel tool

Does anyone know if a plastic wire wheel tool will work on my metal locks?
I need a B.
Thankfully, Rick

If you are talking about the plastic "wire wheel tool" that comes in some of the rotary (Dremel) tool bit assortments, I have never been able to get any work time out of them at all before they fall apart. Even the real wire ones don't last long. If you are trying to restore the locks, try using Evaporust to clean them. Check out this thread to see what kind of results it can give. I have purchased two gallons and a plastic tub to start using it on my car parts too.

He is talking about taking the wheels off his car. There is a special keyed tool for the nuts.

The OP is very vague in what he is looking for, but I believe he needs the letter "B" lock wrench to remove the wire wheel hub caps... Also need to know the make/model since Olds used two different wire wheel type locks - metal or plastic... For example, A-Body (Ciera) used larger plastic nuts and B-Body used a steel nut/bolt...

I didn't know there was a plastic version. I used to have an '84 Buick Century (Ciera clone) that had a metal key tool to remove the wire wheel covers. I guess it was one of the little things that put Buick a notch ahead of Olds in GM's pecking order like having hydraulic lift arms for the hood instead of a prop rod.

I was at a Pick n Pull years ago and saw these two guys trying to get a wheel off and the could not get the hub cap of. I waited till they gave up then I used a screw drive and popped the center out then got all four tires. Reading this I remembers what I did years ago.

Lock

Yes, got all mine off with needle nose vice grips. I am thinking about just taking the locking nut off the hub caps forever, and not worrying about it anymore. It's just three tabs that hold the locking nut to the caps anyway .
