77 GMC Jimmy brake problem
77 GMC Jimmy brake problem
Well i have a rock crawler now that takes all my money and time, with a brake issue. I put "tons" under it (D-60 front and a corpret 14 bolt disc rear).
The 14 bolt has duel pistons brake calipers so i put an 82 corvette master cylinder in it thinking it would compensate for the rear disc. Ive bled it and all the parts are in good working order, but i still have a squishy pedal.
When i clamp the rear brake lines the pedal feels great, the only thing i haven't swapped is the combination/ prop valve. Some say i should gut mine, some say i should get a disc/ disc prop valve, what say you?
And is there enough displacement in my master to push a 6 piston brake system?

Is the Corvette mater cylinder compatible with the rear calipers?. If not you will need one that is.
If you have all the air out of the system then the pedal travel comes from pushing out the pistons in the rear calipers.
On the face of it master cylinder with a larger bore supplying the rear is what you need, the exact size I don't know.
Roger.
