Winter road trip(maybe)

Just got the road trip itch and want(need) to get out of Dodge ( It's cold with snow on the ground right now). We don't usually use the 55 in the winter,#1 reason it takes weeks to get it cleaned up good enough for point type shows in the spring and #2 I couldn't trust the wipers out of sight of the house. Wiper motor is now replaced with a Newport electric and last year was the last time that my car will be shown for points, The restoration is getting to old and to much needs to be done to be completive to play that game. So if the weather will cooperate somewhat( no snow storms) were off to the Gold Country in Northern California starting somewhere near Grassvalley and getting off HWY 49 around Plymouth then back home on the fly on HWY I-5. With all our running around it will probably amount to three or four hundred miles, not a long trip but a good getaway escape vacation and a checkup ride for the 55 for a extended trip to Mount Rushmor in the fall. It's going to be nice not to have to worry so much about the car and just drive it like it was made to be driven...Tedd

If it gets bad I'll hold up in a motel with a bottle of scotch till the Visa runs out. We don't do snow in the 55!

We plan on leaving around the 27th or so and will try to stay below the snow line. If you haven't done the gold country scene you should put it on your bucket list it's a great ride in the foothills of northern California where the gold rush all started, lots of historic sites and old towns and mines. I've been there many times but always find something new and interesting......Lost a lot....Tedd
