Window install

Well I'm actually ready to put the front and rear glass in. So what is the usual rate for this? Some guy quoted $200 per window. Their OEM so no fitting problems should be an issue. Plus they want me to bring to their shop. What's up with that? Now it's an issue finding someone.
Advise please...

this was 10 years ago so not sure if this is a good comparison... a place charged me $150 for both front and back for installation. i didn't like the work they did and called someone else to come take them out and reseal them correct and they only charged $100 for removal and installation and done a great job.

$200 each sounds high to me. i would do it myself for that much. after watching both places do it, i don't think it would be very hard to do.

If you have done everything else, why not do it yourself. Here are the parts for a 1966 A body, and your year should be similar:
3M 051135 08610 Windo-Weld, 1/4" x 15'
windshield clips #385
back glass clips #386
the windshield kit includes spacer blocks to hold the windshield up (check that they are the needed thickness--they are left in place) and the 15' ribbon of sealer with waxed paper separating the coils.

Local glass shop quoted me 75 bucks to pull my rear glass and windshield with no promises of salvaging the front windshield . Said he would have no trouble with the rear one. And when I was ready to install them it would be 100.00 so I think 200 per is high

That's what I was thinking. After what I've been through I think we could handle it. The new glass I have is slightly thinner than the original. I had read on here that I need 3/8" sealer strip so the trim will fit snug. Are those clip # the long ones? Patton sent pictures and advised the front and rear were the long ones with an occasional short one the line put on with screws in the corner to hold the trim on the rear.

I agree-by the looks of some of these guys surely I can do it.

I had Apple Glass to intall mine. It cost me 179.00 for new front glass installed. I cost 100.00 do reinstall the original rear glass. They came out to my house and did the work. I had cracked the front glass while I was taking it out and I just did not think it would be very wise to reinstall it.
