The Wife Is Killing My 71

Guys, I understand that most of you may have a special garage for your Cutlass. However, I only have a two car garage. My problem is that my wife always seems to slightly bump my '71.

Are there any products out there to protect my baby from such abuse ('71 Cutlass, not the wife)? I was thinking maybe a magnetic rubber bumper that is placed along the side of the car? Do those exist?

Chime is guys, my baby has been through a great deal these last few days. Help me save her, and adversly save my wife!!!

yes, there are bumpers and curtains (among other things) that can be installed to protect the classic car from doors that fly open from whoever parks a daily driver next to the classic

Use some of that magnetic sign material (or A/C vent magnetic covers), cut to size, and glue some thick closed cell foam to it. Stick em on the car and remove before driving - cheap and easy...

If that fails, the big D will work...

glue some thick closed cell foam to it
You could use the copper pipe insulation available at Homer Depot or Lowe's and glue that to the back of magnetic sign material. Pretty thick stuff. I use it on my saw horses if I have a panel off a car when I am wet sanding or taking stuff apart.

I'm not married but I'll never let my girlfreind near my Cutlass. She's a slob, I don't even want her to know I've got a new 07 Grand Marquis because she'll want my 2000 still nice Grand Marquis and she'll ruin it. We don't live together but I know there will be car issues if we ever do. I take care of mine she doesn't and I know I would eventually find something F'd up on my Cutlass, she's a nice girlfreind otherwise.

I agree that the Big D would work but likely not to your advantage, she'd probably be awarded your '71 vert by the courts....which I'm sure she would drive past your new economy-stay motel every occasion she could and honk the horn to remind you what your divorce cost you! So I think I would just go with the foam OR weld the doors shuit on her car and make her jump in and out through the window like in Dukes of Hazzard!

Talking

I'd try a shotgun... you even don't have to fire it, just be sitting in the garage cleaning it when she pulls in. (works great with kids from the nearby high school)

Make her park on the left side of the garage & don't let any of her friends sit in the passenger seat

I feel your pain!! My wife couldn't resist piling stuff on the hood and top of the Cutlass when it was parked in the garage. Cure? A new shop!!

Thumbs up Bunker

Try a 4X8 sheet of styrofoam, with a cover in between, held in place with some light bungee cords...

The only thing I can think of that is guranteed to work, is to tell her to park on the street and you'll put it in the Garage for her later.

I thought this only happened to me.....What I use is the car cover, a thick quilt, then a big piece of cardboard hung the rafters in the garage. I have not had ding in 4 years. I agree with the other poster..as soon as you put the cover on the car, everyone thinks its now a storage rack....uggggh!

Remember a Rodney Dangerfield line? "I get no respect!"
Better yet, Henny Youngman? "Take my wife, please!"

I've trained my wife and kids not to breathe near my car/s let alone bash it with a car door.

What does she have that she doesn't like bashed? It works both ways.

Get a lift and put it up in the air out of harm's way?

Hang old car tires on the side like a land yacht?
Huge whitewalls are cooler, can get those off old Russian army trucks and missile trailers, the ones from the tanks may do more damage than good.
