He's been drinking funny water...
I'm not seeing something that is 'super rare'. Maybe it's got paint over top of the solid silver construction???? That's about as much as I'd pay for a whole project car for starters.
His whole ad is screwed up - he says it's for 78,79 80 Cutlass. Want to see something funny? Just for kicks I plugged in the values for a 67 442 and here's what his ad says....

Yeah, so is his PRICE
ha ha ha
Who among us has not priced something higher than usual, hoping that the desperate clueless rich will stop by and need it right now? My brother does that all the time. You can always easily negotiate downward, right? Reminds me of the Most Awesome Vehicle Ever, the priceless pro touring 72 Cutlass...
I once advertised my '68 W30 convert for $20k, not one call. Fine with me.
Then again I advertised a 12-bolt posi for $15 [fifteen dollars] and got... not one call. Ended up using it years later in my '68 driver. And, I once sold a '70 Judge 3.90 10-bolt posi for $150... evidently folks thought that it was too good to be true. But it was true. In good condition, and $150 out the door.
Evidently the car parts pricing goes like this:
Pick a reasonable number.
Multiply it by [factor].
For most folks, the factor is 3 to 5.
Originality Plus uses a factor of 10-20
"Billions and Trillions" guy uses a factor on the order of 100.
BTW, a 12-bolt crusty 3.08 open lists for $800

and crusty '67 442 exhaust manifolds for $500 the pair
