What Makes this a Clone

Perhaps the 442 on the fender.........not much else is clone-ish. Though it is clownish.

It's that special 442-only steering wheel.

Looks like '72 4-4-2 front grilles and headlight bezels as well, but he has "clowned" it up so to say Will take best offer he says I'd give him $1,000.00 for it and he can keep at the fabulous stuff he has on it.

To the seller it perfect, to me it's fixable. People did that to Corvettes in the 70's. The added kits with square headlights and took away the pop up lights. They added kits that widened and squared off the fenders. When you custom create a car, you hope you find a like minded person when you go to sell it. Chances are you will if the price is low enough, or if you stick to your price you'll hold on to the car longer. JMO

I'm not much on 70-72's, but aren't those 72 442 grilles? Certainly look like it to me, but like I said what do I know? Remove the HUGE rims and you wouldn't have too bad of a driver cutlass if you ask me.

Ahhh, my eyes!
Look at the picture of the vin. Is that the outline of Illinois or an attempt to circle the M?

This is what happens when people watch too much tv (pimp my ride). Sort of like all the home shows that are on, everybody has to have granite counter tops and stainless appliances.

Bomp-Che-Bomp-Bomp-Che-Bomp-Bomp-She-Bomb-Bomp---and so one--Jesus what a waste.

Whenever I see a State assigned VIN plate, in my mind, the car is worth about 50% less than one with an original VIN in similiar condition.

What's really a mind trick is that it's a 70 hood with 72 style grilles and stone shield! Too much money in the wheels than to get matching body parts.

There's nothing on the car shown in those pics that can verify it's a real 442 or not, unless there was proof given to IL authorities to give it the VIN it has. Poor body work and placement of the fender emblems doesn't mean a lot if they got repro fenders, for example.

He has stated that it is a Cutlass, made into a 442. Get rid of all that junk on it and it would make a very nice Cutlass.
