Baby is home. 440D ,half filled, ported Battens, T&D rockers, 040 restricted pushrods, Bryant billet counterweighted crank, GRP billet aluminum rods, Wiseco flat top pistons. Should do 700hp NA
It's currently on deck as SHTF/backup/spare engine program, but destined for a 10 0 drag and drive 10th anniversary that never happened 78 Cutlass
Cool, 700 N/A is a honkin Olds V8! Hopefully the S won’t HTF and it’ll go into the ‘78 as planned! 🤞
Any pictures of the ‘78?
I'm still weighing options on how to proceed. I'm thinking it would be faster to by a done car, and swap the body onto the chassis. I'd like to do it my way, but that's expensive or time and space consumption. I need a bigger building LOL

It looks filthy but not rotted. I know the feeling about more garage space and funds. I’d love a bigger building for the workshop. Been wanting a ‘74 Omega to put a 455 and a 5 speed stick in but have no room for anymore vehicles. One more kid to go through college yet, and closing in on retirement. Probably never get to the Omega idea, but may still go 455 in my ‘80 and source a manual trans to make it more fun to drive. Hoping to anyhow.

The other day wifey and I took Olds (71 Cutlass w/air) to a Dr appt. Boy it was a scorcher. Ran a/c and felt pretty good- then high speed quit- then started working again- then quit for good. Came home on 3/4 speed. I looked it upion my service manual and it gave a nice flow chart of what to check. Pointed to blower relay, had to find it (sorta up above brake booster on firewall). I ordered a Standard Products relay from Rockauto. Came Saturday, changed it out and- success! So nice when it comes out so easy!!
Two days ago I took the windshield washer fluid jar and pump of my 1955 Super 88 apart. It was all dirty and filthy.
After cleaning it up, I found all the rubber parts in good condition, so reassambling was easy.
I just have to fill it up and give it a test...

I had one of those from a 1947 Oldsmobile but I sold it for $100 came with some parts I bought for my 1946 Oldsmobile. also had the sun visor sold that too for $ 300 .
I have driven my 4-4-2 about 340-miles now since the oil & filter were changed at the start of the season. I have a slight rear main seal leak that leaves me about a dime sized drop in a catch pan every week between getting it out on the weekends.
- Checked the oil and it was still right at the full line.
- Checked the dual brake fluid reservoir and it was full.
- Drove the car around the block a few times going through the gears and getting it up to operating temp, about 185°. Pulled it back into the garage on a level surface and checked the tranny fluid. It had a nice clear red color, no smell, and was full.
- Radiator and radiator overflow reservoir levels were where they should be.
YaHoo - Good to go for another 300 to 400-miles.
Drove it to a Show ~96-miles round trip on the 4th with 97° heat coming home and got 13.2 mpg on 93 Octane. That's about as good as I've ever gotten babying it, with some extra cam and 3.23's in it.
I finally got my 1973 442 the way I want it. It had 18” wheels with drop spindles and lower rear springs when I purchased it earlier this year. The ride was a little more rough than I like. I’m happy with the look now and it drives much better at stock height and with the 15” wheels.
Tracked down these precious gems tonight! Nice old fella I met at the cruise nights this year has a pile of 1960s engine components!
Sold me this 1964 intake and 4Jet carb for $400
I guess the Mean Green Machine is getting an upgrade!
I started my ashtray delete/power center. The rear wall will have a conventional 12v power port (lighter socket) which will be flanked by a USB c and USB a on each side. I'm sticking the Bluetooth adapter to the ceiling, and there's a blue LED for illumination. I bent it with a press brake out of 1/8" 3003 aluminum.

Ty - Nice haul! Can't wait to see and hear about the upgrade after the new parts are installed! 👍
Chris, your car looks great- I like the original tires/wheels on it better, and that 73 442 looks great, too!
Thanks Greg, much appreciated! Unfortunately the car has been sitting idle for a couple of weeks as we ride out this horrible heat wave here in the St. Louis area. We're finally suppossed to start getting some cooler temps starting tomorrow, and the plan is to hit a judged show on Sunday.

Thanks, Chris! My boy is excited to get that intake manifold into the sandblast cabinet. There is a an old guy in my area that has a carb rebuilding business, so I'm going to have him do the carb for me. The biggest advantage to his work is that he has an engine on a stand in his shop that he tests and tunes every carb after the rebuild. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of power the 4 barrel will pick up on my engine. I'll keep you posted!
Technically not today, but yesterday. Found a yard nearby that happened to have a '77 Cutlass with some parts still available.
While it isn't perfect, it's much better than the front bumper I have on the car. Unfortunately and not surprisingly, the rear bumper was already removed. I didn't think of actually fitting this bumper into my old Volvo until I arrived, but luckily was able to squeeze it in. Although hard to tell, the bumper fillers are conveniently is the same color as my Cutlass.
I remembered I hadn't polished my SSI's and bumpers in prep for a judged show on Sunday. Luckily a front came thru yesterday and we had low 70's this morning which was nice for working in the garage. I really love the Mother's liquid spray chrome cleaner and protectant. The really great thing about it is you don't have to wait for it to dry to a haze like many chrome polishes.

John - Thanks for the compliment, much appreciated! My efforts did not go unappreciated. I took 1st place in the Buick/Pontiac/Oldsmobile Class at the Show on Sunday! I was able to ****** it away from 3 nice GTO's, 2 Buick GS's, a '62 Catalina with the 421 Super Duty, and a Buick Wildcat among others.
By the way, I had to do the same Speedo gear/seal repair about 5-years ago that you just did. Nice job!

Looking good! Were you the one who had a few missing flywheel teeth at Beech Bend? I was the one who lent out my mini charger in case that was why the car was not starting but that wasn't it. If not it was a car similar to yours.

No, but I was pitted next to that dude with that 66. It was a really nice car, but whoever built it didn't tighten the clocking screws on his Powermaster starter. I have no idea how he lost 3/4" of teeth off the flexplate.
