I made a new wiring harness, and hooked up my variable pitch converter and passing gear solenoid on the 65. It feels like it added about 365 HP, lol!

I removed the complete interior and installed fat mat (rattle trap). then reinstalled everything. About an 7 hour job . Took for a test ,and car seemed quieter ,but I was looking for heat reduction inside of the car. After driving about an half hour it did seem to help. Waiting on better weather to take on a longer trip.

Stared at it with a quizzical look on my face wondering when I will have time to fix the starting problem. But started to daydream about the 15" SS rims I just found.

A lost cause...or is it?

A 2X8, a couple of well placed kicks, a 3 pound sledge and a big rubber mallet. Now comes the fine tuning with the hammer and dolly. By the way, this NC heat, SUCKS!

Thanks. I was rather pleased myself. I've told people I was going to bang on it until it was straight or it couldn't BE fixed. It is a long way from ready for paint but at least I won't have to buy a fender. The bumper end cap is another story. But, I haven't put the hammer to that yet. (I think I'll be looking for a new endcap.)

But. I'm going to try anyway; I have an idea.

Awesome. I wish I had a shop and all the right tools to work with. I'm trying not to have to take the fender off but I see it in the near future.

Unhappy Frustration

Got the front end up on my '66 Starfire. I had been trying to turn the motor with the crank bolt to no avail. I was actually tightening it up each time. Pulled the dust cover off the trans to get to the flywheel...and it still won't turn... *SIGH

Dust cover had a bunch of rust in it but I thought it was mostly scale rust since there were several pinholes in the bottom, but I dunno now.

I have pulled the plugs and gotten oil in the bores, diesel and Marvel Mystery Oil down the carb. Pulled the valve covers and everything looks brand new in there, bounced the valve springs a little...

The oil looks used, but not watery or burnt. Trans fluid is still pink and there is coolant still in the water jacket.

What are thoughts on pulling it apart in the car? I'm very limited on money and kinda limited on workspace; like, it is sitting out in the driveway.

I sorted out my tachometer, started the car and it ran well... then I went to install the Wiper Motor... the garage gremlins have hidden the bolts some place obscure! Instead I rounded up old parts and put them into a plastic bin for storage.

Just got back from California yesterday, I sandblasted and painted the frame before I left. Started putting NEW stuff on the frame today. I like new stuff, new stuff is fun! New adjustable upper rear control arms from Spohn performance, front and rear sway bars, BMR i think, shocks, all new sterring components. Tomorrow the new brake and fuel lines, soon the engine and transmission. I just ordered a 7 qt. oil pan, dont think I would have been happy with the stock pan. Exaust is in the box waiting for the engine to go in. Ill have the frame mostly ready to drop the body on after I get it painted, which will be next.

Got plates and three months insurance. She's been hiding in garages for long enough!

This afternoon's agenda...new battery terminal clamps, replace a couple wires, battery tray and clamp, quarter window vertical seals and a shake down cruise before the car club's meeting tonight.

Disappointment

Today I received and returned the trunk lock cylinder I got from a certain website that advertises, "All the parts your car will ever need" because the locks they have surface mount, while the actual lock on my 66 Starfire recesses. The local locksmith whom everyone in the area swears by says she can rebuild it for $35-40........ If anyone who sees this HAS said recessed lock, even without a key ($8 at the locksmith) and maybe even the little "flipper door" lock cover for sale please message me. Thanks.

More EFI work

Made up and installed fuel hoses from tank to engine bay. Installed filter and regulator. Removed carb (saved it for later) and installed EFI housing in its place. Y block for fuel pressure sensor missing one fitting so have to wait for next week to complete. Will start elec ignition and distributor next week also.

Yesterday I found time to rebuild my hurst shifter, it turn out excellent shifting now is much firmer..no more sticking in second gear. a rebuild kit cost just less of a 100 dollars shipped from California and took only less than 4 hours to remove rebuild and reinstall with final adjustment! I highly recommend it if anyone has slop with the 4 speed.

66 Cutlass Midnight Rider

Guys:
I started the rear brake upgrade from the small drums to the larger 11" dia. I got the larger backing plates from Packrat, had it all blasted and painted, looks like New stuff. Ordered all the New brake Hdw from Rockauto, New shoes, hold down and adjusters kits, cylinders and all E Brake cables for less than $65.00 including shipping. I will get the drums local to save on shipping. I'll let you guys know how it all works out.
Thanks, Ron

What have I done today??

Nothing yet. Son and I did mount the 7111 intake last night and hoping to kit the Holley tonight. Going to NAPA today for a longer PS belt or may just end up at a friend's garage to shoot the **** and see his new Harley project.

Did have seats recovered in April, NOS vinyl and fabric. Cost an arm and a leg but is back to stock and all purty.

Took off control arms to switch to tubulars. Discovered rusted parts, dismantled steering knuckles, stripped and painted.
Checked the rear end, noticed a fuel leak from the inlet neck - removed gas tank (full, of course...) and emptied it, then rigged it up to a blower so all gas fumes can leave it ASAP.
Decided since half the steering components are already off, I'd finally get around to redoing the steering box, which is leaking.
Headers are also still a bit leaky, so those will be looked at ASAP. MAW fix the droopy exhausts as well, then.

Build sheet

I've looked under the rear seat in my '73 Omega for my build sheet but it wasn't there, (that's where I found it on my '72 Delta 88). Are there any other locations where they may have placed it?

Such nice cars ! "Some of you guys are unreal".

Just FYI Here: I worked in a Dealership for years ... anyway, I have a good friend whom worked there as well, Turns out He has a 70 or 71 Cutlass Hood still in the GM cardboard wrapper !

"Its the real fancy one with the openings" ... If someones in need I'll tell Him as he has no interest in keeping it. (Is that a 442, i think yes ? )

GREAT WORK Guys !

Took it on a long anticipated road trip. Only about an hour and a half one way. Had AC on max. Temp got up to 3/4 mark on the gauge a few times and overflow bottle got used. Made a few peoples day along the way.

Fired the car up last night. OMG, what a difference the intake and carb made. With everything working as it should the 330 purrs like a kitten. No more oil leaks, vacuum leaks, and great throttle response.
