OAI air cleaner topper. The last one I bought was already attached. What glue do I need? Thanks.

 

You can try using the 3M (yellow) weatherstrip glue or the spray adhesive

 

Thanks, a friend is using this unit for an all Oldsmobile show because his is still on the way.

 

I would suggest the black weather strip glue. Less likely to be noticed if any gets outside the contact area. Once glued in place, it will not come off without damaging the foam.

 

Just remember that most of these adhesives are a contact type and require the cement to be placed on both the air cleaner housing and the foam. Apply a thin coating, let it sit for a few minutes and then stick the pieces together.

 

3M yellow is for door weather striping only and will dry out in no time from the heat of the engine.

I use 3M HD Spray Adhesive that is "heat resistant". Tape off the air cleaner adapter (other than the groove for the seal) and the sides of the foam seal. I spray two light coats about 10 mins apart and then a heavy coat same 10 min wait time. After 1/2 hour I very carefully feed the seal in to the groove. Go slow and use some patience. Adhesive should still be tacky so if you miss align the seal you can re-position it. Press on top of seal to make sure you have complete contact. I have done several this way. I did mine 12 yrs ago during restoration and it still looks good.
