What is the differences 70-72 Core Supports

Can someone tell me and show me in pictures the differences between 70 , 71, and 72 core supports? I thought way back I saw a thread on this but search is not helping me much on this one today.

Thanks
Larry

The 70 support is flat accross the leading edge where the grilles fit, the 71-72 is raised to match the larger grilles and hood contour. Also, the secondary latch opening is on the oppisite side from 70 to 71-72. There may be other changes, but those are the ones Im aware of.

70 is unique among the three. '71 and '72 are very similar except that the '72 has small raised areas to accommodate the "outie" shape of the '72 Cutlass S and Supreme grilles. The '71 is flat in that are since the '71 S and Supreme grilles are "innies". See the raised humps above the outside of the grilles on my old '72 Supreme.

The key is the 70 core support is very different from the others. It would require dramatic work to make a 70 support work in a 71 or 72 (and vice versa). The ads saying those reproduction 70 core supports work in 71/72? Complete trash.

72 grills only fit in a 72 support
71 grills fit in a 71 and 72 support

There are differences (the bumps) between 71/72 if you're going for a point perfect restoration.
Somewhere on here Joe did a complete breakdown and pictures of all this junk.

Scroll down in this thread.

Also, I didn't post these photos, but it's a really good comparison of the three years.
