Washer Tank Bolt Size

Can someone give me an idea of the correct bolt size for the washer jar for a 70 442.

I see in the assembly manual that .312 diameter hole or roughly 5/16th, and screw part number 9419380.

I assume it is 3/8 but how long?

If the hole is 5/16 then a 3/8 bolt will be too big. So the bolt either has to be 1/4 or 5/16..

For the 1970 washer jar, Lansing used three 3/16" x 3/4" sheet-metal-type screws with 3/8" hex head, black oxide. Not sure what other assembly plants used.

Perhaps the 0.312" dia hole was a clearance hole in the inner fender.

Check your nearby ACE Hardware, they carry a huge assortment of hardware.

Perfect, thanks everyone!

Yes the .312 diameter hole is in the wheel well. I should have mentioned that.
