Warning to Indy residents

Theres a guy or shop or something going around buying up cheap clunker 70-72 Cutlaii and giving them a quick paint job, cheap interior, and re-selling them for a huge profit to unsuspecting customers. I had a suspicion about this when i met a guy with what looked like a nice black Cutlass S for a great price. When i showed up you could tell the body underneath was totally shot and whoever had it before just shot a heavy coat of paint over it trying to hide it all. Not to mention when i looked in the trunk the quarters were patched by rivots. Ive seen two more just like it pop up recently as well. All look awesome (besides the obnoxious huge rims) until you look close and see body flaws and interior flaws and cheap cover-ups. They have tell-tale signs that all come with such as missing side markers and usually the window cranks are replaced with vice-grips. Also they usually have cheap "custom" interiors.

Now the real kicker is, i think i met the guy in person! When i was trying to sell my 72 Supreme for dirt cheap this guy showed up who even admitted to me that thats what he was going to do with it. Put a fresh coat of paint on, hook everything back up, and just re-sell it to (as he called it) "some drug dealer who wouldnt know". The only reason he didnt buy the car is cause i had the interior stripped out and at that point he'd actually have to do some restoration rather than just cover-ups. He said he owned a shop but i dont remember what it was called or where it was.

Beware guys. Id like to find out more about this whole opperation. I havent seen it on any other cars just Cutlasses so far, havent seen any Chevelles or Skylarks but i may not have a broad enough search to see anything else he may be working with

Wanted to give fair warning and at least get the word out. Maybe someone else in the area has seen the same stuff or knows something about it. If not, watch yourself if youre in the market and go over any car you look at with a fine tooth comb!
