Nope..the GM docs I posted on how to locate and decipher the “serial number” put out by GM is the winner. you wouldn’t have a case at all if you went to court with what you have😂😂😂

don’t be so foolish.

2023 HR article sponsored by Mecum.. not once is “derivative” “VIN derivative” or “derivative of the VIN” mentioned. It’s referred to as “Serial Number” or “serial sequence number” or “Sequence number” or “sequential number”. The dictionary meaning of sequential is a SERIES of numbers in ascending or descending order to provide a unique number system to identify an item in the SERIES or SEQUENCE

GM starting using the term sequential number in place of serial number in the later part of the 1980’s. although it’s meaning is the same.

Wouldn’t know. I don't golf. I didn't even know the tees are lit.

Or was that illiterate for something else?

Wow...you've really lost a lot of sleep over this, haven't you? "VIN derivatives, derivative of the VIN"...what difference does it make how it's worded? At the end of the day, all that matters is that the numbers match...geez.

ROTFLMAO Now there's a logical summersault that would make anyone dizzy. And the best part is that you don't even realize how silly that make you look, LOL.

IIRC, GM didn't begin to use VIN DERIVATIVES until '68, so bringing out documents from '66 to prove your point is beyond worthless:

Here's a shovel. Keep digging.

You all failed. None of you can even acknowledge the mountains of docs , by GM, that call it a serial number

I guess if you don’t look and acknowledge, it didn’t happen right?

you guys act like cult members 😂😂😂😂. Even after you found out the cult leader lied to you about everything,, you just refuse to believe you were duped

I am so sorry that your Daddy did not love you. Sad!

That you to have to attack, call people names and add many 😂 emojis. To feel superior.

To bad, I think you can build a great Olds engine. You just have too many daddy issues.

numbskullery, that is funny as all ****!!

The only hope for him now is that a concerned relative will read this thread and have him committed, finally getting him the help he so desperately needs.

More lessons for the children.

the above 70 W31 has a serial number(yes, it says serial number on the original GM sales order) 336870M316675

the original block would be stamped
30M316675

now, if the block stamping is a derivative(derived from or part of)of the VIN, like everyone is saying , 30M316675 would be like it is, in it’s entirety, all 9 digits, unchanged from beginning to end, nothing taken away or added to make it a derivative of the VIN…it’s not

it’s different…only M316675 in its order is part of the VIN, and of that, only the last 6 digits make it the unique serial number to prove the block is original to the car…that’s why it’s called serial or sequence number by GM

a serial number or sequence number can only be unique to one item.. a derivative can be applied to many items, therefore, it can’t be called a derivative on the block because derivative does not mean unique….the serial number is unique.

when you are describing one car and its unique # , the word serial number is used. that’s why you see serial number all over the place in GM docs..

you kids only got till next June for this to sink in, or you’ll be in the special Ed class next year

Dude you’re arguing about the meaning of a number GM pulled out of their *** to label a car for the government. Not even the meaning of the number you’re losing your mind over the name they gave it.
