Thats the engine block casting number for a 350 used between 1967 and 1977.What you are looking for is a number stamped on a flat spot near the front of the block which would include the last six numbers of the vin. Go to search function and try looking for"VIN number matching". Should be a thread or two on that subject.

Try looking up this thread.

This is what an Oldsmobile VIN derivative stamp on the block looks like. It is nearly always covered with crud and is often hidden by accessory brackets.

The first character ("3") should match the first character of the car's VIN. The last eight characters of the VIN derivative should match the last eight of the VIN. This is what is meant by "numbers matching" (despite what some sellers may incorrectly put in their ads). Note that the trans will also have a VIN derivative stamp on the case.
