Are you a member on Facebook US30 page? If not they would love to see this on their page. I have posted alot on there as that was my home track since 1967 until closing.

August 1968 HOT ROD MAGAZINE wrung out a 1968 F85 with a W31 350 installed. Including force air system and highway patrol police apprehender equipment. Originally 3330 LBS including spare tire. After 1000 break in miles they took her to Irwingdale Raceway. Tested from almost stock (except for 1 7/8s full length headers), to slicks, carb, timing, and exhaust play.

Headers with closed exhaust 4 speed manual (M21), 3.91 rear limited slip, no air element. Launched at 5000 RPM shifted at 6000 RPM. Stock tires. 14.08 @ 98.90 MPH

As above plus opening up the exhaust, new spark plugs, and slicks (27in tall 6 5/8in wide). 38 degrees total advance. Same launch and shift points. 13.61 @ 103.21 MPH

Now exhaust dropped, 4.66 gear swap, and 3500 RPM launch otherwise all the above. 13.40 @ 104.04 MPH

Finally, fine tuning (carb adjustments), back to 5000 RPM launch, with bigger slicks (29in tall 7in wide), otherwise same as all the above. At this point the Olds was classified E/S class. And put down 230 HP to the wheels.

Best run 13.20 @ 105.75 MPH

For more details http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/membe...art_II_1-3.pdf keep in mind this is the 2nd part to a 3 part series.

Here is a show board from one of the W-31s discussed here. I thought these ets were very quick.

Not out of line with a stocker for today's standards. I think Sam Murray is running low 11's with his 350 powered stocker. I guess it depends on when the E/T was set wether or not it pegs the BS meter.
