As with the w-30's it will aslo need to be a Lansing built car and you need paperwork for proof. IMHO $18,500 is high for one w/o the origional engine.

Considering that it is the engine that makes it unique...

The W-31 option was a high performance (small-block 350)factory drag car basically. In 68-69, it had the under bumper scoops and tubes up to the air cleaner like a W-30 442. In 1970, it was standard with the OAI hood and air cleaner assembly. It was rated at 325 HP but had much more. It had a factory balanced bottom end with large valve heads to handle a 308 duration cam. In 1970, it also had a W-31 specific aluminum intake! They all had a specifically built carb, and a balancer larger than any other Olds and also specific to the W-31! All of them came with the 4 core radiator for heavy duty cooling. The standard rear was a 3.90 posi. and all came with boxed rear cotrol arms and rear sway bar.(F-41) None of them ever had A/C regardless of what some say!! In 68 there were only 4 speeds, but auto. or standard available in 69-70. You need matching paperwork from the car that proves it is a W-31 or it is just a Cutlass with emblems installed on it!

Correction: 3 core OR 4 core radiator depending on rear gear.

Um, not quite. The '68 W-31 had three manual transmissions available: the close ratio M-21, the wide ratio M-20, and the M-14 Heavy Duty 3-speed. 4.33s were standard with the M-21 and 3.91s with the other two. I know of a '68 M-14 W-31.

Cool Olds, Bob. Still have it? Technically, the console was an option, so no console was not a delete. Regarding other questions asked elsewhere, is there a Z prefix to the trim code? And did it have option Y68?

I owned it for 35 years and it was taking up space in the garage so I found it a new home... It is close by,,,,,I have visitation rights and the first right of refusal if he would sell it.....It is in a good home.

Anyone see the article in the new Mucsle Car Enthusiast on the '70 W-31 with the aluminum prototype block? Nice car, but the pics of it are kind of crappy. Owner of Inline Tube owns it.
