VIN Number location

I'm having a hard time locating my VIN number on my 1948 Olds 78 4-door. Not on left front dash, not anywhere in Left door frame, can't find it on frame.

I have the original title but can't register it because I can't locate the VIN. Can anyone help me out? I've even got the Albuquerque trying to help find it.

Your car is ID by the engine serial number stamped on the block.

Reference book says number should be found on the left upper area of the block. Hope your engine is original to the car.

The problem I'm having is that the VIN on the Title is a 7 digit number which is different than the engine block number.

I agree that they used serial number from engine as VINs weren't used until years later.

Thanks for the input--
