it the cars vin number stamped on the axle on a 12 bolt olds? i only see the ratio code? ware would i look thanks

 

From what I understand, you won't find the VIN derivative anywhere on the rear axle/differential assembly.

You will find the VIN derivative on '68 and newer Oldsmobiles on the transmission, engine block and on top of the frame just aft of the driver side rear wheel opening.

Correct.There is no VIN# stamped on the rearend.
