USPS Shipping Delays
USPS Shipping Delays
To all contemplating shipping via USPS through the new Palmetto, GA distribution processing center--beware!
USPS kept a clutch pressure plate in a continuous circle between Atlanta and Palmetto for nearly 30 days. I now have 8 packages at Palmetto and they have been there a week already.

JP it's easy to confuse USPS with UPS, and the other way around; I do it all the time....
You seem to be making good progress with your newest antiquity. It's great the car is being so agreeable.

USPS has been absolutely terrible recently, I don’t know what is happening but do know that I grimace when vendors provide USPS tracking because I know what to expect. Patience will work to the recipient’s advantage in this case.
No issues here! The new truck payment went from Michigan to Arizona, in 4 working days.
The biggest issue is that trying to slim down the postal service over the last 7 years to make it better on trying to support itself. The attrition of retirements has not been supported by new hires (again like everyone else) trying to find people that want to work is an issue.

USPS says mail delays in metro Atlanta improving after changes at Palmetto facility (msn.com)
Apparently they've had some issues. I'd have stuff coming in from California (I'm in SC) to make it to me BEFORE stuff from Miami. And the Miami stuff was already on its way when I made the order to California. It would arrive to "Palmetto" quickly, then bounce around Atlanta for about a week. Stuff going out doesn't seem to be a problem compared to stuff coming in. I could WALK to Atlanta, get the stuff myself, and WALK home faster than it takes them to process and get it to me. What's worse, I don't think this is going to get any better any time soon. It unclogged for a bit, but now it's a stuck turd in the sewer system again.

The second, linked story is better because there is actual info from the post office. That first video is pretty worthless because it doesn't get any answers from the post office itself. It just shows hand-wringing from the senator and complaints from customers about delays. Didn't need the news report to be aware of those.
I bought a piece of mint, hard to find diecast trim and it got stuck in the USPS California system for >3 weeks, and naturally once it arrived, it was broken... the seller packed it pretty well, but the cardboard tube stood no chance in the USPS system.
Got all my money back, but the time to find another will be a killer.

I get things from all over the country. One thing to note....ONLY the USPS delivers to every mail box/home. UPS, Fedex, DHL and others only transport packages to where they have delivery services. For many rural homes and businesses, UPS, Fedex, DHL and others pay USPS to deliver the package or envelope. I use USPS every chance I can. And privatizing USPS is a bad idea.
.....Just my two cents worth.

There have been significant weather related events/delays across the country since Sunday. Minnesota alone w/ 400 accidents Sunday through Tuesday evening. This isn't including the dramatic tornadoes/thunderstorms experienced elsewhere. It's as real as real gets.
