Upholstery 1955 Olds 88

Hi, I'm a new member, just inherited 1955 Olds 88, it's in excellent shape, runs great, 59,000 miles on it. Now, I want to restore it, who does upholstery kits for this car? Really it's only the front seat that is ripped, but I would like to replace it all.

Congrats on your car. I have never had an inherited car but it would make it special. To my knowledge, nobody reproduces the interior for the 55. I had a 54 Super 88 convertible done for a friend. We bought one of the original dealer manuals off ebay. It had actual upholstery swatchs in it. It was a little pricey at about $265. We took this and the photos of the interior to the trim shop and picked material in the near color and texture and them had them reproduce the entire interior. I will say it was not cheap. A lot will probably depend on what you are going to do with the car and last but not least your budget. If you are just looking for a cool car or want to make a retro look, you may want to go with something like roll and pleat. Good luck and post some pictures of your car.

Sorry I missed the pictures. Now that I see it is a 4-door sedan, I personally would go with something I like and that looks cool.

Every once in a while, you'll find NOS seat covers. They may be from a parts store or upholstery shop, but they'll fit right and usually look pretty good. Back then they were commonly added to new cars soon after purchase to protect the upholstery.

Sometimes you even find them in GM boxes...

How about these? right color, bodystyle and everything...

Hi

Nice Olds

Are you from Mill Bay outside Vicoria?

I have a friend there, who originally is from Norway, his name is Alf.

Welcome to the site. AWSOME car!

You can check out Kanter or EZ Rod Interiors if you just want aftermarket tuck and roll.

Thanks

Thanks for all the comments, I believe I found a place in Portland OR, just waiting for word back from them. Keeping my fingers crossed as I really want to redo the interior, keeping it as close as possible to original. I will post some pictures this weekend, just don't have enough time in the day during the work week, you know how it is. Can't wait for retirement....

Benny,

I live in Bothell, WA just north of Seattle own a 1957 Olds. Have lots of connections for parts for early fifties Olds (except upholstery)
