As a matter of fact, I've had the bike on one side of the garage, she had the other, then when i bought the car she got the boot...lol
All it cost me was a remote starter, you know New England winters are cold, (least I could do).
I still clear the snow for her though.

You kiddin me?! Awesome cave...I really dig the mason jar system for your misc. nuts and bolts. I may have to 'borrow' that idea!
My cave is still in the planning phase and is going through the permit process with the city. I'm installing a 10' bay with a lift and they're giving me grief about the safety issues.
Hopefully they don't waste too much more of my time...grrrr....I'll post pics once we get the construction started.

OK, here's some photos of the outside of my "cave". The plan was to use the shed on the left as storage for parts, the single bay next to it as a body/paint room, the double wide door for turning wrenches and the shed on the right as a tool room. BUT... due to my habit of collecting "stuff" everything is full of parts and tools that I've drug home. I did purchase several shelves from Costco in an effort to get organized that are heavy duty and are about 6 foot high and 4 foot wide by about 18 inches deep. Then I've been going through the recycle bin at work looking for things like computer boxes to put parts in and stack.
Oh yeah, I wanted a larger garage but the city wouldn't let me have more square feet in the garage than in the house

Those city managers must have moved here from the big city, they clearly don't understand my priorities

My experience with city planners is it is much easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. "I'm sorry I didn't know"

Hate to say it but you gotta not tell them "all your plans" (installing a car lift) that's where the grief starts. I've learned my lessons in the past.
My neighbor added a garage with living space over it for his parents and they told the city it was going to be an office for her clients.
Above all that, safety has to come first!!!!

. Once I finished my garage my wife wanted to park her mini van in there. 
. I bought her a remote starter and will wipe the snow off the van for her, but she has dinged the car before and now that it's been repainted, my double car garage is really a single car garage.

My wife started calling it the "man cave" and I really don't like it myself. I just call it my shop. The more I think about it, "ewwww is right. I think I'll go beat her right now.

Here's my buddy's hang out, and I didn't even capture the 60's garage set up. That a 1969 442 W30 4 speed convertible that's being done...complete frame up resto. It has radiant heat so there is no dust in the air from a forced air system. He has a Christmas party there every year. He supplies the food and drinks but we always bring something.

the Garage is 2 car wide and 48' deep.. the back half of it a previous owner used as a train room (added on after the fact) I would love to knock a hole in the wall between the two rooms and make a bigger room. but I don't want to take out what i believe to be a load bearing wall.

48 feet! You should have a 4 car garage.
I would put a giant 1/32 scale slot car track in that other half.
Mr. crzyjef...put in a beam and...tear down that wall!

The garage was only 30' or so deep and then and when the trains out grew the tuff shed also on the property the garage was then expanded to make a larger toy train room I can see on the roof a definate line where the shingles were and then added to later on.

I tend to think of my basement / rec room as the "man cave", and the garage as just that...a garage. Here's a pic of the garage, nothing special, basic 2 car. Still got the Injun, but the 442's place is now filled by the Jetstar. If I get another 442 vert, may be a tight fit.
In the basement, I have a small utility room with a workbench; here's the stool I use, built using parts from a 50's Schwinn Phantom.
