Consider loading EFF Privacy Badger (free) along w/ any other Ad Blocking s/w you may be running. It runs a nice comprehensive background algorithm which turns off tracking linked among various sites. Nice add-on to any Ad Blocking s/w.

Y'all need to get EFF Privacy Badger and UBlock Origin for your Browsers.

I use the Duck Duck Go browser on my phone and search engine everywhere else. It works just fine

Privacy Badger is good at cleaning things up and use https everywhere plugins.

I find Microsoft and Amazon are the worst offenders at tracking. They probably pay your ISP so they can track the ads you see.

I've had others in my household search Amazon for something on a different computer and my work laptop browser will show me ads for that product on the Edge browser homepage when I WFH.

Data mining is not limited to your phone or laptop. Modern vehicles, most notably Teslas, mine hoards of your personal data including video from the cameras, which is periodically uploaded to the company and retained permanently. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has exposed the extent in a number of articles. This is a good introduction: https://spectrum.ieee.org/tesla-autopilot-data-scope

Data collectors seem to be infinitely creative. Promotion of technology as the Internet of Things (IOT) is a good example. "We can monitor your refridgerator contents and notify you via your phone when your low on an item." The motivation is to profile exactly what refridgerated and frozen items your household consumes and to market the data to suppliers.

Resistance is futile.

I also recommend watching Idiocracy...its a grade B movie from the 90s with Dax Sheppard and Luke Wilson. AND speaks the same truth as Orwell. Humorous and scary at the same time. Watch it and you tell me if you see the parallelism with the... whatever it is we have going on today. I can't even make an intelligent comment...bewildered maybe?

On to your regularly scheduled Oldsmobile's... just keep an eye out for inefficient ceiling fans, N.Gas appliances and keep your beer consumption to 2 glasses a week! George is watching....

[/QUOTE

We are all living it right now, When I first saw Idiocracy, I had no idea it would predict the future so closely.

If it comes down to two glasses of beer a week....those will be some pretty big glasses.

Victory Gin

That's one of the reasons I brew my own beer.

Nice, that sounds like a very rewarding hobby.
