TH350 Cleaning Tips needed

I'm now in the midst of having my Turbo 350 rebuilt on my 72 Cutlass Supreme frame off project. The Tranny Guy took it all the way down to the case for me. Its not bad looking and I have taken it to my Machine Shop friend and he is going to run it through his power washer. I am looking for ideas other than bead blasting the case to get a real clean original finish after it has been power steamed. Anyone have some real good tips for me? I'm as **** as they come so want this to be perfect.

Thanks,
Dave

I don't know if this will help, but I have had some success cleaning off the oxide on older aluminum by soaking it in ammonia. The coloration doesn't change, but the "fuzzy" feel that was there goes away. I haven't done any parts as large as a transmission case, but see no reason it wouldn't work.

Look it up on the net for more info.
