Teepo's New Power Steering Hoses
Here are some pics of Teepo's newly installed new power steering hoses and beautifully painted steering gear box! I think they look very nice - even if they don't have stripes, lol.

Looks good.
Make sure that one hose does not rub on the plastic wheel well. In one picture it looks away from it, another looks like it is touching. If its away, your good.
And just WHERE is your ground cable to alt bracket retaining strap??

Hi Sandy: Your under the hood pictures keep getting better and better.
I hope that TEPO will make it to some shows this year. I also hope to take my car to some shows this year, maybe even in Ohio.
My '67 Delta 88 Custom doesn't have a name as of yet. I'm considering naming it the Money Pit!

Thank you guys!! Nice to hear from you, Darrell! Hope all is well with you. No, I don't know where Blue is... again. That's Don Sitts work, lol.
Rob... I don't know about a ground strap? I will check that hose, but I don't think it's against the wheel well.
Thank you, Jaybird! I think all the cars should be named the money pit, lol. We start cruisin again next week! Shows start in June!!
Mike... I think I worried about the stripes long enough, lol.

Well crap! I didn't know that, or I'd have ordered it when I ordered the hoses from them. I'll check in to it! Thanks... What is it's technical name lol, so I know what to look for??

Page 6-1-113 of the 1972 A body assy manual shows the clamps or straps.
With PS and AC, they used a plastic strap like mine, #1239007
With PS and without AC, they used a clamp shown in the post above.
I sure opened a can o' worms, didn't I!

Like I said, used would be the only way to get an exact part. Our used parts specialists here might be able to rummage around for one.
If you want a similar strap, where originality is not required, These can be had at electronics / computer parts suppliers:
http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...1113-ND/280126
The width and style is similar, but these are often velcro. Ask your local computer geeks - bet they would have them.
Even this will work but is only half the width of the original... Maybe use two?
http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...1BKC-ND/465646
If this style will work, i can mail you a couple free of charge. You would make them into 2" loops to look right.

What if I ordered one of those 'incorrect' ones from Inline - think anyone would know it's not correct? Evidently the people who judge her at the shows have no idea she's even supposed to have that strap. It's never been mentioned - even at the Olds show, lol!!
#24
Probably most people would not notice that it was not correct, and its not that visable anyway. Always can put it on and then look for the right one at swap meets, etc.
Your engine compartment looks so nice and original I doubt anyone would notice.

It would be fine enough Sandy. I would put that one on I posted or similar and not worry about it.

If you look at the tabs that face the driver, they look different. Unless it got a complete overhaul i guess?

You're seeing the same thing I am Tony. Usually when they replace power steering hoses they don't take out the gearbox just to clean it. I was wondering the same thing about whether it had been replaced.

Regardless of minutia, that engine bay is fantastic. It is inspiring me to get my keister under the hood with a toothbrush and microscope. Even with those, I don't think I could ever make mine look that good. Any tips on how you keep it so pristine?

Well darlin, if you're going to do that you might as well take off that ugly rag joint and clean it up. And also do the steering shaft while you're doing that. It's really easy. Takes about 1/2 day to rehab and it will complete the princess look you're going for with TPO

ARRRRGGGGHHHHH........ You guys are making me crazy, lol! But I love ya anyhow! No I'm not sure they didn't replace the gear box. I don't care if they did! I ain't a goin there, lol!! This damned clamp or strap is making me crazy enough. I told them I wanted it cleaned up and re-painted when they put the new hoses on. I took them the Eastwood's paint to do it with. As far as I know, it's the original one, all cleaned up and painted.

Thank you for being the "rose among the thorns", lol! Blue painted the engine for me in 2010, and I keep it clean by being under the hood all the time, lol. I wash it alot! I'm at cruise ins just about every night of the week and at shows on the weekends (during the season), so her hood is up practically all the time.

Allan R...... Who won 14 awards last summer with that "ugly rag joint"?? And that includes at the Olds shows???? Neener Neener Neener!!!!!!

Neener neener neener right back at ya girlfriend....
Seriously? There's no harm no foul leaving it the way it is. Most people don't look beyond the bling of a brightly detailed engine to the smaller things that some of us have wrenched on. Regardless of what TPOs gearbox, it looks great and that's what people will look to. Kind of like crows- they look for the bright shiny things.

I on the other hand won 27 kudos, 16 joe 'attaboys', and a bajillion 'Wow, that's cool' awards for just my rag joint and steering shaft.

Tony -
You have no idea how true and prophetic those words are. We should start a thread with 'famous quotes for a thousand'.....I mean 2 thousand....no it's 3 now.....
BTW I think you mean brake BOOSTER
