There are anly a couple rad shops that will recore my rad within 75 miles of me and I have been on the phone trying to get a price. the general estimat I have gotten so far is between 3-400 dollars
does this sound like it's a little too high or am I just being cheap

Prices
Just got a call back from the one place and it is 333 plus tax @ 13% and a new rad is 436 plus tax
They have to order either one from Quebec , and Rob that is canadian dollars which means that there would be about 15-17% cheaper. I am going to take it in next week to see if it can be repaired or not since the core does not seem to be rotten.

I experience the same thing when I was looking for a heater core replacement for my 64 Olds 98. It was more expensive to have it repaired and re cored than to buy a new one. I think it is cheaper to buy an O"reillys or Summit radiator than to have the original one re cored. The only reason to repair an old one is if you want to keep originality.

new
They quoted a price of $436 plus tax (13%) so it would be pushing $500 and that to me is high. I am going to take it in to see if it can be fixed cause the core does not appear to be rotten. hopefully it can be repaired.
