Switch pitch
How do you ID a switch pitch torque converter? Just pulled out my Jet a way trans and I wanted to use the torque converter on the turbo 350. But i think someone put a regular torque converter in. I or the guy I got the car from had ever driven the car he was restoring it the torque converter looks brand new

Not all 300-series transmissions were switch-pitch.
A switch-pitch 300 converter will not work in a TH350 or a non-switch-pitch TH400. They'll work in switch-pitch TH400s, though.
I'd be looking at the trans stator support. The splined area is narrower on the switch-pitch than the regular trans. There are TH400 photos on the internet. Sorry, I don't have any photos.

I'm pretty sure that the trans was a switch pitch, it has the 2 plug connector on the side and it has the narrow splines on the input shaft, just wondering how to tell if the converter in a switch pitch. as the guy was fixing up the car i think he bought a new converter and i don't know if he bought a switch pitch or regular converter. he didn't finish the car, so i'm guessing he never drove it. i got it running but only pulled it in and out of the garage.
