Can anyone tell me what the stock stall speed is on a TH350 from the factory? I tried to google it and find it here on the site with no luck,

I have found 1500 - 1800 is normal, A lot depends on rear gear and front tire size.

Yeah, I was told many, many years ago that "high stall" was 1800 RPM and the regular stall was ~1500 RPM.

 

Stall speed is the engine RPM with the throttle wide open and the trans output shaft locked.

 

Wouldn't stall speed be a function of whatever engine is bolted to that torque converter?

 

I am sure this is about the converter as the op stated 350 turbo tranny.

We have a winner. Stall speed of a given converter will be different depending on the engine in front of it. A 455 will stall that converter at a higher RPM than a 350. It has NOTHING to do with front tire size or anything else.

 

Typically a 12" TH350 is 1800 and a 13" TH400 is 1600 , thats is with a good amount of throttle and good strong rear brakes. I got 1700 out of stock TH400 with a 10.5:1 455
