Steering column for floor shift question?

Will a steering column from a 67 A-Body fit and exchange into a 68-69 A-body? Maybe need to use the 68-69 mounting? or maybe put the 67 mounting in the 68-69? Any help appreciated!! Thanks

I don't think so. (68 maybe) In 69 the ignition cylinder and switch moved to the column, and it had a larger diameter. Anything is possible, but it wouldn't be a direct swap.

I think the 66-67 are 30 inch and the 68-72 are 31 or 32 inch. How the rag joint attaches is different also if I'm not mistaken, spline versus double D shaft.

Thanks --- i forgot about the ignition moving to column in 69. So that settles it --- I need a floor shift column for a 69!! Anyone got one? or know where I can score one? (cheap) - or trade?

I do have a column shift column for a 71 chevelle that I can use for trade bait?? (non-tilt). I want a non-tilt too!

Make sure you check the end
where the backdrive comes off the column.
There are two styles that I know of. One is a
short straight with the hole and the other is longer
with a funky bend. I believe the staight one is 69 only?
4-speed or auto. My 69 442 auto console is the short one
But the 70 is the one with the funky bend, also a console
shift. I have had heck figuring that out. And then to get it to pull all
the way down in low and also up to park.
They both require a different length rod for the applications.
That 69 is a one off, because it is different where it attaches
to the tranny as well. {400 turbo}
