Swapping steering column column shift to floor on '68

I know the '68 columns are one year only due to no key in ignition- are the columns from chevy chevelle or gto the same? Want to make sure I don't screw myself.

Any idea what a decent '68 tilt floor shift steering column sells for?

Not sure if other brands are the same but if it helps I have a non tilt floor shift for a '68 for $100.00 plus shipping.

Why not just use the 69-72 column and have two ignition keys?

Non tilt bangs into my knees.
Two ignition keys- I would get so much grief on this site if anyone noticed that set up on my car!

Yeah, so?

I have seen cars with two shifters, one on the column and one on the floor.

how about a '68 column and '69 dash, and NO place for an ign switch?
:-)

isn't the dash opening for the column smaller on the 68, so a 69 column wouldn't work .... without cutting the metal dash.

now the 68 column on a 69 idea I like.

as for 68 columns from other GM A-bodys, the ***** for the hazard flashers would be different, along with the turn signal arm. I suppose you could swap the olds specific items in place of the others and it would work.

This happens from time to time, how does a thread from years ago get renewed? When I long on here, I can’t see threads more than a couple days old unless I actually search thru the history. And with the traffic here, that would be a lot of history for a 6 year old thread to show up.

Because someone new to the site does a search and a long-dead thread pops up. They respond to it without checking the date. Then it gets bumped.
