starter issues still
You guys have helped me before. Im still having problems. I have a 89 olds wiht a 77 engine. They put an aftermarket iginition on. The back of the key ignition has markings for Battery st (presumably starter) acc and ignition. Does the wire that is hooked the battery marrked area go directly to the battery?
Also, I hooked up the starter i thoght correctly but when yuo go to startit it actually turns over in the on positon and to the left in the acc positoin....

Yes, in theory! Battery voltage or hot to that terminal at all times.
Your start position should be wired or putting 12 volts to the S terminal on the solenoid on the starter.
But with a cobbled switch and wiring, you may have to start from fresh.

The other terminal on the starter is for resistor wire bypass, if you were running a points distributor it would go to the + side of the coil during the start cycle. If your running an hei it may or may not be needed to supply voltage during the start cycle.
