Specialty Olds , Ken Reese

Years ago when I lived in Florida, Ken Reese owned a shop called Specialty Olds in Winter Haven, Florida. I would drive over and talk to him quite a bit and he helped me a lot when I started out with my Cutlass Supreme Conv.

The other day, I was curious what happened with him in the industry and I saw that he passed away in 2018. So sad; he was such a helpful and friendly guy.

I was wondering who else knew him ?

I didn't know him per se, but I met him when I was thinking about joining the Olds club of Florida back in the late 90s. I was living just north of Tampa at the time and when I was visiting the club events. They were scheduled to take a little cruise and ended up there at Specialty Olds for their meeting. I ended up emptying my wallet there on some Olds parts. My goodness, whatever it is you needed pretty much he had available at the time. Hella nice guy and was willing to talk about anything Olds. Or not. I was just thinking about that trip the other day.

There was one old coot that had a beautiful baby blue 1970 98 convertible I fell in love with (the car, not him) that I met that day as well. Can't recall his name though, but that car really made me have a yearning for a similar style 98.

Ken

I had known Ken for 25 years. A really amazing guy. I almost bought Specialty Olds in 1998 from Ken. We always talked on the phone and had beers when together at regional or national meets. Miss him in this hobby.

Thumbs up

I bought many parts from him over 20+ years.

Great guy and a real asset to our hobby.

RIP Ken.

I own the last 442 W30 he restored back in 92. He quit after this car due to health problems associated with body work and focused on selling parts.
