1969 Deck or Trunk lid I got with a bunch of parts I purchased. It wasn't until I got it home that I realized there was something missing!

Flip it over. I bet it's not Olds. It's for a car with the lock in the tail panel, not the trunk lid. I bet the underside has the square latch receiver in it.

I will admit I haven't set it side by side with a known 1969 Cutlass deck lid. Here's what the backside looks like. And the wire a previous owner used to hold it down?

Since there is a slot on the lower lip for the lock cylinder retainer, I think someone just used a filler panel to block the key hole for esthetic purposes...

Yes. It's definitely set up for a latch. I guess they only used the remote trunk release.

That's one way to keep em from screw-drivering the trunk open.

I thought it couldn't be Olds because there's no wing or holes from one.

The shaved handle & lock look was quite popular in the 80's. I recall a lot of Chevelle's & Nova's around here with that 'option'.

From the pics it looks to be a solid piece. Someone who needs a trunk lid could always reinstall the latch or use it as a panel to restore a rotted one.
