Sold My 54

When I bought my 75 Hurst Olds in October, I planned to sell my 54 Super 88. That happened today and the car left about 30 minutes ago. It went to a very good home. The guy that bought it is 38 years old and a member of NTOC. I won't disclose the price but it was what I was asking and I think a good deal for both of us. We had good weather and he was able to leave with the top down. He has a 79 Hurst Olds. He will not be installing an LS or some goofy stuff like that. His dad is has been an Olds person all his life. Sad to see her go but I am going to enjoy the Hurst.

If you're happy and the car is happy and the new owner is happy, that's all that matters. Glad it went well, Glenn.

Glenn I'm glad you didn't have a lot of grief selling the car. I'd call that a success. I know it was the light up rocket on the hood that was the clincher.

Thanks guys. You have a good memory Mike. There was a time I thought that I would have the good sense to sell the car before I scrapped a fender coming out of the garage. Things change and I am satisfied. Mike I am now trying to decide what to do with the 57 Chevy. More to come on that one.

I'm happy for you Glenn. I remember reading your post on the 1975 where you said you would be selling the 1954. There's nothing more that you could hope for than the seller and buyer were both happy with the transaction.

Don't know how old you are Glen? But I'm getting older, and sold some of my cars I liked, and all my extra parts. It is easier today than it was 20 years ago. I saw my brother hold on to cars to long, and was not a good thing to watch. Having someone else sell your car not you, not my style.

I am probably older than you Harv. I am 75. I got the point I wanted something that was a little easier on cruises and longer road trips. It is kind of interesting that I bought the Hurst from a NTOC Club member and sold my 54 to a club member. I never advertised the car and one of the first people in the club that knew about it actually bought it. He paid my asking price and I didn't have to pay anybody a commission. I was glad it was a nice day here and he was able to drive it home with the top down. He sent me a picture when he got home with it in the garage next to his 79 Hurst Olds.

Sounds like a real win-win for everyone Glenn. Looks like she went to a great new home. Happy for you that it worked out the way that you wanted it to.

Wow, I'm sure it's in good hands and appreciated for what it is. Hopefully it will bring to the new owner the joy it brought to you and the Mrs.

I'm happy for you, but sad at the same time. Here's hoping your 57 will meet your expeditions. You sold a unique car. Best of fun on your next project.... Tedd

Thanks guys. Tedd you did know I bought a 75 Hurst Olds didn't you? I really like the car. It is a very different from the 54. It was a space limitation thing.

The very best deals are when both parties believe they got the better end of the deal. Doesn't get much better than that.

Congratulations, Glenn! That sounds like a win / win, and I am glad to know that it is staying local so that I can admire it again in the future.

The new avatar picture looks like a natural. Look forward to you starting on the Chev. Maybe it will motivate me into working on mine.
