It was purchased on the principal, and then donated back for re-auction. Not so crazy really, more humanitarian. Slick looking '79 with hard pedigree. Someone will be very happy to have it.

That would be a crazy price for a 69 Hurst Olds. It has nothing to do with the value of the car and everything to do with the charity. Good for the person that bought it.

I also believe, but am not sure, that was Linda Vaughn's car.

I bet it has her signature on it and plenty of photo ops with her. That is probably worth more than if it had 10 original miles on it.

The reality is that whatever was paid over the actual value of the car is a charitable tax write-off.

Seems to me a lot of the prices paid for cars at B-J this year are plain crazy?

That was Linda 's car. I think she sold some off her car and "car stuff" a few years ago when she was very ill. Not sure who put it up for auction. Very generous of the lady who bought it and re-donated it.

How is that different from any other year, or any other over-hyped big name auction?

I guess the difference is that there are a whole lot more 6 figure prices on a whole lot more cars than in years past?
