Had the Olds up on the QJ the other day and noticed my shocks are still the Sears units my Dad installed back in 1978. Car does roll quite a bit during aggressive corner hanging so it's time for a few upgrades. I'm not going to be Autocrossing or Roadracing but I'd like it to be a bit more predictable during therapy drives. Keep in mind I'm on BFG 215/70/14s so I can only expect so much. Thinking about KYB Gas-a-Just shocks as an affordable option. Anybody use these and are they of good quality?

Az, How do you like that lift you have there? I was wondering if those were heavy enuff for our Cutlasses, Your pic says so... About shocks- I was always taught that if car doesn't continue bouncing after a good 2 or 3 bounce on bumper or they aren't leaking they are OK..?? I replaced mine way back in middle 90's with generic Monroes- been fine since, but I have wondered if a "high performance" shock would be a improvement? I do know adding a factory sway bar to my Cutlass 'vert made a big improvement.....
I preferred the Koni SRT (orange body) street performance shocks over the KYB. Bilsteins are well regarded as well but I found them ultimately too firm for my '72 ragtop.
Like your ride, mine still had Sears Roadhandler shocks on it when I bought the car in 2016... Was the least-molested old car I'd ever purchased up to that point.

The Quickjack works GREAT! I've got the discontinued 5000 SLX which I purchased originally for my C5 Z06 and my 5th Gen Camaros. I added the extensions and they give the lift a bit more versatility. The newer 5000 TL model would probably work perfect for the full frame A-bodies.
Check Amazon for comparable prices, with prime I also get free shipping.
I will not support that business for the way they treat the employees.
No one should have to take a **** in a bottle because they are not allowed to goto the rest room unless they meet the quota.
Nice Quickjack ! I've got the 5000TL and love it but haven't used it on my 68 Cutlass yet - looks like it'll need frame extensions.
This isn't really cost effective but I recently removed KYB Excel-Gs from my '69 'vette and installed Ridetech single adjustable gas shocks on all four corners. I rebuilt my suspension so it's it excellent shape but was really wanting a better shock and after 9 years I finally pulled the trigger. They're pricey and I had to fool with the adjustments a few times but they're great ! If you look into that option not all of them are adjustable while installed which is one reason I went with Ridetech.
I just pulled a set of Bilsteins out of the front of my Cutlass and you couldn't go wrong with those. Nothing wrong with them but I went with QA1 double adjustable coilovers to solve a ride height issue, which they did.
Hobby car, why not splurge a little ? In both cases the ride quality is top notch.
I've had Ridetechs on my ragtop for about a year now and they're awesome - yes pricey, but worth it. I set mine in the middle of their adjustment range and find it's ideal for the relatively clean road conditions I typically encounter in FL.
Control arms and springs are essentially stock but I added a 1-5/16" front sway bar, 1" rear bar, Energy Suspension urethane end links, UMI Performance rear control arms and a set of original FE2 rear frame braces. So this combo with the Ridetechs lets my ride handle like a newer performance car.
KYBs arrived today. Had a $20 "Summit Bucks" credit so the total price came in under $200. Plenty of good options out there but these should suffice for my driving style.
