Shifter help

Replacing the aftermarket crap someone put in my 66 cutlass floor shifter..found a nice one to replace it but transmission shop says the handle wont work with the bracket..any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I see is the shiter, like most of the 64 to 66 ones is broken, so you cant use the T Handle. You would have to use a shiftworks replacement for the handle

Not sure what they mean by, it wont work with the bracket, it appears you have all of the correct linkage.
If you want a picture of an unbroken one let me know.

the handle from the 68 wont match with the bracket from the 66. I think only a 65-67 will probably work.

The ears are broken off the handle and the roller and links are also missing. only way i know to make it work will be the shftworks kit.

I should have took better pictures when I was down there but apparently it needs to have the bracket for the neutral safety switch

The neutral safety switch is on the shifer in the picture, 64 to 66 floor shifters use the same switch as the column shift cars.

Your 66 shifter is broken, as are nearly all of them today. There is no easy fix. While I have not personally tried it, some people have successfully swapped in the shifter from a G-body Olds, which looks very similar to the 64-66 shifter.
