Call Volo and ask them to give your contact information to the new owner. If your intent is to buy it back, be prepared to pony up if the guy calls you.

I don't know how common it is that you can track a car down like this, but if it all works out, you have a great story to tell. Congrats on finding it.

The best part of the story would have to be what changed on the car while
out of your care , the good the bad and the ugly , judging by recent photos , probably not much bad. Good luck with your endeavor.

Just had a quick peek at the car. Did you have the broadcast card or other documentation on it? What was the "S" for on the one interior door panel?

I bought this car in Louisville Kentucky. It was a yellow W-30 car with air and auto and I decided to make it like the one I had in high school and changed it to what you see now. Probly not smart in today's market but who knew way back then. Bought all the parts to restore it from local olds dealer as they were all pretty much still available. Never found docs that I can remember but I do have the pro-tec-to plate still Wow. Still can't believe Volvo had it. They are only 150 miles from me, the owner who had it the last 19 years must be the guy I sold it to. Not giving up yet. Really want it back

Well you did your part and called them. All you can do now is wait to hear back. Who knows, it could turn out very favorable. Good luck!

I merged your 2 threads together because of the history already put forth to prevent a duplication of effort. All you need to do to update the thread is post on it. Good luck.

i too was looking for an old car i sold back in 1996.my old 65 442.since i sold it i have moved to 3 different counties.and went to my current dvm about 2 months ago.and they brought up my name and all the vehicles i have had since they have kept records.they had to go thru every one one at a time.i told em that it was a 13 digit vin and should start with 3 .bout 3 days later she calls back and says they found it and they contacted the owner and gave them my name and number and that it was still somewhat located in the area.but by law can't reveal that info.
well about 3 weeks ago i get a call from a guy.actually thee guy i sold it to and he sent pics and it is pretty much in the same condition i need to get up there and check it out again i really miss that car.

whats really crazy about my search is he had the car in storage and had not transfered the title into his name so it was still in my name until this summer when he lost his storage and had to bring the car to his house and at the time had to keep it in the driveway so he had to have current plates on it.if i would have looked last year it would have just come back that it was still in my name so i wouldn't have known where it was

If the data plate had a dash for the paint code, I wonder if the new owner thinks it's a real Rallye Red car?

No way to really tell it was originally yellow. There was a spot on the passenger door jamb where the rally red was chipped off and you could see some yellow showing thru. That would give it away if you looked close enough.

The new owner can reach out to me ant time as I still have the pro-tech-o plate and a world of knowalge on this car.

Ditto on that. He definitely didn't go to a New York DMV. You barley get anything done in one visit let alone someone help you. Although I've had friendlier service 50 - 60 miles from the city.

Just sent the owner / seller of the car a note. The car has been in Indiana the last little bit. Current owner has a post W-30 he's working on, too.
