In search of..

Looking for a set of Trico 44 160 wiper refills for my '72 Supreme. No luck with local parts stores or after a search on the innerweb. I don't need the whole blade, just the refills.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Are these 16" blades (44-160)?

I have Trico refills 16-1. Fits 1970 442/Cutlass. I have to dash to store and don't have time to check parts book to see if they fit 72 Supreme.

They're certainly 16" blades. Not sure of the 1972 application, though.

72 should be the same as a 70. It is very difficult to find refills anymore. If you find NOS ones they are often times dry rotted.

Is there a difference between 41-160 and 44-160 or 43-160?

Roger that. I thought the first time I brought up the site it said they had them, when I switched to Make My Store they now appeared Out Of Stock...weird.

The TRICO site demonstrates an array of TRICO refills for 1972 Cutlass. Oddly, they don't demonstrate your part number. They must fit - they're on your car right! Assuming you have the original motor assembly & blades.
They list the RF-16-1 (tnswt has).

Thanks for the link Norm, but I didn't see any refills listed,, and when I did a search,, no results. As far as fitment, all I know at this point is that 44-160 is what I bought from O Reilly and they worked perfectly.

72455 I purchased these RF-16-1 off eBay last year, I believe. I too had a heck of a time finding refills. They fit the '70 442's original wiper arms perfectly. Mind you, these are refills and do not have the spline back like the original factory ones. If you seek original spline blades I can give you contact information on a person that specializes in vintage blades. Be prepared to have your wallet open.

I tell you what; for your Christmas present this year I'll send a pair of RF-16-1 to you. if you want to take me up on it, then pm me your address. Meanwhile, you have some time to figure what to do when these wear out, and don't call on me. Happy Motoring!

OK Gotchya. That's why I asked Kenneth my question since you are looking for a different refill than he posted.

I guess y’all haven’t done as many Cutlass wiper replacements as I have over the last 40 years.

I have never really paid any attention to what type blade the inserts are said to fit; I just buy the correct length refills and they work in my original wiper blades (just don’t get the narrow ones - N at the end of the part number). There’s either an end clip or they are held in by the tabs on the ends of the wiper blades. If you get the wrong style, you can remove the rubber part of the inserts and install them into your existing insert “frame rails”. Done that many times on multiple vehicles.

Note the ones I linked say dual rail and secure dual latch lock, which from the image I expect one end’s latch can be removed to make it work as a single end latch as our wipers use.

Yeah, I agree. Dave wants that particular model number was my only point. Anyways, it takes me generally a couple minutes to figure out wiper refill installations. I think over the years there are what two basic types: the J channel types and some other type? I buy good refills (I think) I'm not interested necessarily in remaining with a particular manufacturer; although, I probably should because I know I've bought some refills which basically have disintegrated in less than several months. What's that all about?

Norm, I wasn't particularly looking for that part # so much as a set that would fit. I only referenced that part number because I know they work, and wasn't sure about the others, hence all the questions 😀

OK. I thought you were hard-set in having that exact model number.

Hah, thread derail on that comment. Out here in Phoenix most wipers basically melt and fuse to the windshield after one summer.

Refills

Was able to order refills for a ‘91 Buick Century through Advance Auto. O’Reillys struggled unfortunately.

Checked my inventory today... Sorry to say no Trico Blades/Refills... I only have Anco and some later model GM/OEM... If you can cross reference your Trico number to Anco, I may have it...
