Wiper Refills

Hi everyone.

What are we doing for wiper refills these days? I have two 70 Cutlass that need new wipers, and the stores around me don't have regular refills. They have universal refills that you cut to fit, and they are garbage. And I'm not replacing my blades with universal black ones.

Thanks.

I've always gotten them at the auto parts store, although the last time I bought a set was 2 years ago for the Olds.

I buy online from Rock Auto. Their refills are fairly cheap and I bulk order for all of my vehicles to reduce the shipping cost. I started doing this when I found none of the local stores carried refills any more, just blades sold individually. Nearly $20 for two blades in the local store vs. $4 for a pair of refills from RA.

I've bought the new blades complete then stripped the refills out of them to be reused. Sadly, refills seem to be too hard for the average person to do, so they sell the whole thing... Actually wipers themselves seem to be too hard, so now most part stores put them on for free.

Thanks you guys, and thanks marcar for saying that. I went to get new wipers for my Mom's 08 Aura and tried to put them on in the parking lot. They were not like anything I'd ever seen. I went back inside and said I was embarrassed to say I couldn't put them on. The guy came out and had them on in about one minute.

That's not a bad idea about taking the refills out of new blades. But Kenneth you're right, blades are expensive these days. I'll check out Rock Auto as well.

I just bought two correct blades with new rubber at Carlisle. Trico has a "Classic" series that is available from NAPA and RockAuto.
